Catholic Democrats Congratulates President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and the American People

Rejoices that Spirit of the Longstanding
Catholic Social Justice Tradition Continues
to Inform the Conscience of Our Nation

Boston, MA - Catholic Democrats congratulates President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for their historic re-election victory.

“Tonight, Catholic Democrats, and all those who believe in the power of community and our responsibility to the common good, rejoice that President Obama and Vice President Biden were re-elected in an historic election marked by unprecedented political division,” said Steve Krueger, president of Catholic Democrats.  “We believe that this is a victory for the Catholic Social Justice Tradition that has guided the conscience of our nation for over a century.  The American people chose a worldview that values community and the common good over one that puts the market and individualism before the welfare of all people.”

“‘We are our brothers’ keeper, we are sisters’ keeper, and we have to do our part to make it a reality,’ is a central theme of President Obama’s philosophy,” said Nicholas Cafardi, Catholic Democrats board member and a co-chair of the Obama campaign’s Catholic outreach effort.  “At a time when we face substantial policy challenges accompanied by political rancor, the wisdom of the electorate has chosen a direction - rooted in faith - that will not only provide opportunity for our future but also care for those most in need, so that our entire nation may move forward together.”
