This Fourth of July, Raise Your Lamp for God and the Common Good. Dear Sisters and Brothers,As we celebrate the birth of our nation, let us remember to give thanks for all of the blessings we enjoy, made possible by our forefathers upon whose courage, sweat and lives our American experiment has endured and grown.  Let us be mindful of the Catholic Social Justice Tradition and the role that it has played in guiding the conscience of our nation for over a century - from the rights of labor to the dignity of the human person and the right of health care for all of God’s children.  And with the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) decision last week substantially upholding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), let us also give thanks for the leadership of President Obama, Leader Nancy Pelosi, and the 111th Democratically-led Congress.
